The GWTD Dial-A-Ride transportation program was created under the Municipal Grant Program for Elderly and Disabled Demanded Responsive Transportation, CGS §13b-38bb.
Currently, seven Greater Waterbury Transit District municipalities and the Greater Waterbury Transit District Board of Directors apply for the grant to provide coordinated transportation in our region for seniors and persons with disabilities.
Residents of any of these seven municipalities may use the Dial-A-Ride service free of charge. Service is
limited to particular days per week for each municipality due to limited resources.
To be eligible to use the GWTD Dial-A-Ride Transportation Service you must be:
- 60 years and older OR
- a person with a disability AND
- a resident of Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Prospect, Waterbury, Watertown, or Wolcott.
An application must be filled out and returned to the designated address to begin use of the GWTD Dial-A-Ride services. Applications may be obtained by calling your municipal dispatch using the phone number in the sidebar.
